Protecting Girls from Breast CancerWhat to eat girls before puberty may prevent them from breast cancer in the future. The researchers found that children of women with a high body mass, an indicator of a high-fat diet, are less likely to develop breast cancer than those who are very thin, a sign of a low-fat diet.
The key is estrogen. Higher levels during childhood appears to prevent breast cancer. Before puberty, boys and girls do not make estrogen in their womb. But they produce small quantities of these hormones in the fatty tissue.
Consuming a high-fat diet increases the production. But, you certainly do not want your daughter consume too much fatty food. Besides being able to increase levels of cholesterol, also may increase the risk of heart disease and cause other health problems.
So what should be done by the mother? Keep your child's fat intake to about 30% of calories. Serve milk products lower in fat. Cook food using healthy oils such as olive oil and canola oil.
